Notes From Today's "Cambio," La Paz's Newspaper:
* The US imposes a 17% tax on Bolivian imports because of Bolivia's refusal to cooperate with the DEA in eliminating coca farms. President Evo Morales spoke to the UN General Assembly in 2006. "I should like to take this opportunity to speak of another historical injustice: the criminalization of the coca leaf. This coca leaf is green, not white, like cocaine. The coca leaf is symbolic of Andean culture, of the Andean environment and of the hopes of peoples. It is not acceptable that the coca leaf be legal for Coca-Cola and illegal for medicinal consumption not only in our country but throughout the world."
* Evidence of Cochabamba's ex-governor Manfred Reyes Villa corruption charges increased after news outlets learned of his Miami condo, which was co-signed by an American defense firm.
