AVATAR
Last night I got caught in the rain on the other side of town. I ran through puddles into a nearby movie theater for shelter. Avatar was about to start.
James Cameron creates a visually magical world in Avatar. In addition to an action packed story paired with top of the line CGI effects, the two main themes of the movie revolve around the evils of destroying indigenous people for natural resources and the need to protect the environment with its sound, interconnected ecosystems. It could have been the setting of watching this movie alongside a room full of Bolivians that left a mark on me, but ever since I've been thinking about the film; with a world as stunning as National Geographic photos and messages of cultural understanding and destructive societies. I highly recommend that everyone see Avatar.

I saw Avatar on Friday night too! I was impressed with James Cameron's criticism of the US government, and allusions to colonialism in developing countries as well as our own history of pushing native americans off of their land. Plus, the visual effects were awesome. I've been dreaming of Avatars ever since...
