In Argentina, shopkeepers are reluctant to give change even when you pay with small bills. There is a shortage of single pesos and centavos. The government must really be trying to limit the money supply to strengthen the value of the peso on world markets. The effects of this are that the smallest stores with limited monetary resources often times round down prices to the nearest even demonination.
