Leaving Boston...

Leaving is a surreal experience. I've been dreaming up this journey since this time last year and finally it's materializing. Nervous excitement wouldn't pinpoint where I'm at now. I keep telling myself, "After months of planning, it's about time I get on my way...Finally!" This past week when people wished me off, they repeatedly spoke about how crazy my trip really is. Surprisingly, to me this feels so natural, that I couldn't picture doing anything else right now. Weaving across Latin American fits better than yelling in the CBOE pits and trading stock options.

Spending time with Jed and Nate this week helped ease the whole leaving process. With Jed shipping out to Baghdad on Tuesday and Nate flying to Italy on Wednesday, trekking from end to end across the Americas comparatively seems so normal. Tackling South America is just another component to us Newtonites conquering the world.

In an hour I'll be leaving home for a year. Goodbye Newton. Goodbye Chicago. Goodbye America. I hope to take you all with me down to see the streets of South America with my blog. Please feel free to share Just a Thought... with anyone. Keep in touch. I will access email in internet cafes and I'll possibly have a phone if I can find a cheap one down there. Regularly check in on the blog so you can follow my adventure.

Adios amigos.

Buon viaggio, friend. And remember -- if you need a good travel guide book, I'm your guy.

I'll see you in 11 months. Be safe, and enjoy.
