Amboro National Park

Last weekend we went camping in Amboro National Park. In addition to the camping, the hiking, pushing the pickup up muddy dirt roads, a bon fire, and a Sunday fiesta in a small pueblo, we repelled down a 95 meter (almost 300 ft) waterfall. With the waterfall situated in front of a cave-like drop, we shimmied down a thick rope, getting sprayed by the misty rush of H2O, and landed in a pristine, hidden pool with perfect sand beach. These are the types of places you only find in movies (last night we watched some horror movie that takes place in Hawaii that had a similarly secretive bathing hole). In the carved out cave, although curious scientists have yet to research it, considering the isolated nature of the small micro environment and the unique conditions (constant mist, shade from sunlight, temperature) there must be varieties of undiscovered species of brush, bugs, or lizards. This hidden paradise is truly magical. Finding a rabbit hole in a rotting tree stump, we knew we were close by to our own Wonderland, keeping our eyes out for a Mad Hatter or a white rabbit with a waist coat.
